16. Committee Newsletter Dec 2016

Key DECISIONS and ACTIONS from the Hockey Club Committee Meet 5 Dec 2016

Roy Blomfield – the committee noted with sadness the passing away of Roy Blomfield on Wednesday 30 November. Roy was an old stalwart of the club fondly remembered by older club members. He was father of Vic and father-in-law of Simon Glazik. Funeral arrangements: Wednesday 14 December 11:40 at Rose Hill Crematurium.

More Umpires Needed – There is a need for more volunteers to undertake the level 1 umpiring course. We will be contacting those who have already been on the level 1 course to ask them to use Yorkshire Youth and Junior cup games to be assessed and become qualified.

Social Events – Future events include:
• Saturday 17th December - Cheese & Wine
• Saturday 18th February - possible cocktail evening
• Friday 7th April - Junior Awards Presentation evening
• Saturday 8th April - Hockey Club Ball

Xmas Presents – club kit (shirts, shorts and skorts) are in stock at the Intersport store on the High Street, hoodies and hats as well all with your favorite club logo ! Alternatively visit the club shop at http://www.intersportlincoln.com/sports-fitness/schoolwear/doncaster-hockey-club/?limit=all

Volunteers – Volunteers are always needed to help run the club. At the moment we are still looking for a volunteer run the club’s website which would provide them with valuable work experience. A new home page is being developed at the moment so it is an exciting time to take on the role.

Pitch Surface – Algae has plagued astroturf pitches across the Country this year. A great deal of work has been going on to reduce our slippery pitch surface including algae treatment and scraping. This has halted the decline of the surface and further treatment is planned before finally sanding the pitch to bring it up to standard.

Membership 2016/17 - Annual membership payments were due at the end of November. If you know of anybody who has not paid please tell them to do so now or talk to Bev Deakin. We will be looking at who is eligible to play for the second half of the season. We are pursuing two former players who have not paid their membership for last season through more formal debt collection.

“Ask not what your club can do for you, ask what you can do for your club”
