Committee Decisions 29 of 29

29. Committee Newsletter Sept 2015

Key DECISIONS and ACTIONS from the Hockey Club Committee Meeting 7 Sept

Pitch Floodlights
The club will accept an offer of £20,000 from the National Hockey Foundation to support the refurbishment of the pitch floodlights costing £27,850. With a contribution from the pitch fund and any further minor funding that can be found the lights will be refurbished by Xmas.

The pitch is a major source of funding that supports the club and makes the periodic replacement of the pitch surface possible. We need to encourage as much paid use of the facility as possible by footballers and any other users.

Pitch Manager
With Tom Cuffling disappearing to university the club will be advertising for the role of pitch manager to take over as soon as possible. If you are interested please talk to any committee member.

Club Roles
An explanation of club roles is to be drawn up and put on our website to help everyone, including committee members, to better understand who needs to be leading on what within the club to keep it running and move it forward. This will cover the roles of paid and volunteering members who make up the majority of people who maintain the club and keep it moving forward.

This could then be developed to help members see what they could help with and volunteer for a role or just offer support.

Men’s and Ladies Section
The first full club matches of the season will be held on the 19 September with selection on the 14 September. The committee will fill the only outstanding roles of ladies 2nd team manager and men’s veterans captain as soon as possible.

Funding
The club has secured a total of:
- £350 from the Hockey Youth Trust which we can match with another £350 from Yorkshire Hockey Development fund for new junior goalkeeping kit plus sticks and balls.
- £1500 from Sportivate funding for schools hockey which will be held at Hungerhill and Armthorpe schools.
- £750 from Pegler Yorkshire through the chairman for junior hockey kit.
- £1000 for a satellite hockey club for boys at Hayfield School.

Coaching
The committee has agreed to fund coaching courses to a total of around £1200 for identified club members already helping in some way with club coaching.
