Committee Decisions 22 of 29

22. Committee Newsletter April 2016

Key DECISIONS and ACTIONS from the Hockey Club Committee Meet 4 April

Club Ball and Junior Presentation Evening – the final preparations for the annual ball (120+) and junior presentation (200+) were discussed and agreed. Many thanks for the fantastic job being done by everybody involved, including Sian Howatson and Elaine Thorpe.

Sponsorship – a huge vote of thanks to Kirk Bellerby who after four years and around £15,000 of funds raised through sponsorship will be standing down next season. That is valuable funding for the club which which members would not be benefitting from without Kirk.

Membership – There are still a dozen players across all sections who still owe their annual membership and one significant match fee debtor for last season. All will be pursued through the closed season. An amendment to the constitution has been drawn up suspending the membership of such debtors until they do pay. If they don’t settle this debt they will also be required to pay at the beginning of any following season if they want to continue to play.

AGM – The club AGM will be held on Sunday the 8 May at 1600. A great deal of work is being done by Lindsey, Matt and others to gain a full understanding of our financial position and put in place systems that will give us better financial control and ability to plan into the future. This work is essential for the club to move forward and will be reported at the AGM. It will be proposed that membership and match fees stay the same for the 2016/17 season.

Section Meetings – the mens section meeting will be held on the 28 May at 6pm. The ladies meeting will be notified later.

New Kit and Club Logo – Following on from the successful week viewing new kit styles, Adidas came out on top of the members vote by a long way. The committee is therefore approaching two potential suppliers to get the best deal possible for club members. Once the supplier has been decided we will agree the style of kit from the feedback received before placing orders early in May so that we are ready for the start of the 2016/17 season.

Umpires – We will always need more umpires. The level 1 umpiring course held on Sunday the 21 Feb at the club was a great success. A further course is planned for September. More details will follow nearer the time.

Club Roles and Structure
The review of paid roles continues with monthly performance reviews being held for paid hockey club roles. Key decisions will be made during the closed season in preparation for the 2016/17 campaign.
