Committee Decisions 20 of 29

20. Committee Newsletter July 2016

Key DECISIONS and ACTIONS from the Hockey Club Committee Meet 4 July

Finances – Lindsey is now hoping to provide an up to date financial position for 2015/16 at the August committee meeting. In summary there had been three continuous deficit years (2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15) totaling some £20k leaving our capital reserves for pitch surface replacement at around £70k.

That deficit trend has been reversed in 2015/16, in particular by; Matt’s chairmanship and action in achieving better control of pitch hire and expenditure, Bev’s better control of match fees and membership payments and success with funding applications for floodlights for example. Steve and Lindsey will continue to develop some much needed financial control protocols particularly around cash payments. We will be using online banking by the 1 August.

Sponsorship – DC Training’s £15k sponsorship support over the next three years is a very welcome boost for the club’s finances and target to replace the pitch surface in around three years time. The social event that DC Training put on in June was a great success and we are all looking forward to a very happy relationship with DC Training over the next three years.

Social Events – Elaine Thorpe and a group of volunteers have already met to plan out next years provisional socials. Keep your eyes on the new notice board.

The chosen shirt is a white T16 design with red stripe; a collar for the ladies and round neck for men. A full range of other kit will be available including tracksuits and hoodies.

Section Updates – Final decisions covering captains and committee representation will be considered at the August meeting in preparation for the start of the season. Bev has already got the annual handbook in production.
