Key DECISIONS and ACTIONS from the Hockey Club Committee Meet 8 May 2017

AGM
The Club’s AGM will be held at 4pm on the 14 May at the club. A new Club President, currently Steve Ward needs to be elected, alternating from the Men’s to the Ladies section. Barbara Bellerby has been nominated. The Club Chairman, Matt Goodwin, also announced his intention to step down at the end of the season. Steve Holmes has been nominated.

Finance
The 2015/16 season accounts will be presented at the AGM showing a surplus for the first time in three years of around £10k. This is an important achievement in providing additional funding for the pitch surface replacement.

Juniors
A new Junior Coordinator will be required for the 2017/18 season. It was also recognized that further organizational resources were required for the Junior Section to support the Junior Coach. This will probably need to come from the junior parents.

Ladies Coach
The first team Ladies Coach has been advertised to establish the level of interest both inside and outside the club and from that the club’s options for the 2017/18 season including current arrangements.

Pitch Surface Maintenance
Our astroturf pitch is our most important asset besides club members. Our Sports Club representatives are getting us closer to taking more direct control of our own pitch maintenance and taking it away from the Sports Club. This will enable more caring maintenance of the pitch area, and pitch surface according to our needs. Kerry Haslam will be talking to people who could potentially undertake this role.

Pitch – Surface Replacement and Development
The cost of replacing the current pitch surface and any other affordable improvements including a training area at the far end of the pitch or even second pitch will be considered over the summer. This will enable the Club to work out a plan to meet the funding needs.

Club Mark
Our application for the EH Club Mark should be ready for final assessment by the end of May.
