The purpose of this section is to help inform Doncaster Hockey Club members about the roles carried out by people not on the Executive Committee and their roles & responsibilities.
The descriptions of roles within the Club is a reflection of the paid staff and volunteers who are supporting the running of the club in 2024/25.
It does not follow the structure and all the roles set out in the club constitution.
We are always looking for volunteers to assist with the running of the Club.

Pitch Manager: Hywell Jenkins
Role: To ensure the pitch is maintained and is suitable for play and to maximise income
from the pitch.
Key Tasks:
• Liaise with the Club Secretary and Fixture Secretaries to organise internal pitch bookings for all fixtures and reschedule as required.
• Be the main point of contact for all external pitch bookings, maintaining a diary/calendar of bookings and securing new external bookings where possible.
• Ensure that the pitch and changing rooms are open and ready for all bookings eg hockey / football goals / corner flags/etc and they are secured when closed.
• Collect monies for pitch bookings & pass on to the treasurer.
• Liaise with the Hockey Club committee to ensure pitch area is well maintained reporting any issues to the committee if action is required.

Fixtures Secretary: Neal Deakin
Role: Liaise with club captains, opposition and league secretaries to adjust fixtures as arises
during the season.
Key Tasks:
• Act as a central point of contact for all fixture enquires both internal and external
• Attend selection meetings with current list of playing members, and relevant fixture details.
• Help manage any changes required to the fixtures list
• Liaise with the Pitch manager re fixtures
Umpire Co-ordinator: Maxwell Davidson
Role: To support the committee in providing umpires for Club games with the appropriate
qualifications. Promote the qualification of new umpires.
Key Tasks:
• Maintain a register of all Club umpires including Level, training courses attended etc.
• Work with the committee to ensure umpire development e.g. promote attendance on umpire training courses
• Ensure that all umpires are appropriately registered with the various leagues as appropriate
• Act as a single point of contact for all umpiring matters both internally and externally
• Coordinate allocation of umpires to games on a weekly basis
Junior Co-ordinator: Will Hearne
Role: To ensure delivery of high quality coaching to the Junior section.
Key Tasks:
• Deliver coaching sessions and assist coaches in producing appropriate session
plans and review coach/player feedback.
• Keep attendance at junior training sessions
• Liaise with the Junior Administrator to make competitions’ entries, EH and
festivals commitments and ensure fair player opportunities
• Promote youth coaching and the Club at schools in DMBC
• Attend and contribute to the South Yorkshire Hockey Development Group
(SYHDG)
• Ensure development of juniors via the EH Talent system by liaising with
Junior Administrator and making nominations as required.
• Ensure that parents, guardians and teachers (where necessary) of junior players
are aware of EH Talent system nominations and junior development at DHC.
• Recruit and develop volunteer coaches for junior training sessions.
• Link with the Pitch Manager if pitches for games are required
• Arrange and publicise junior Holiday Hockey Camps – liaise with coaches as
required
• Promote “good practice” and the EH code of conduct for Junior players,
parents and team managers.
• Be aware of the Clubs policy on Safeguarding and Protecting young people in
hockey

Junior team Managers : various
Role: To ensure the smooth running of their team
Key Tasks:
• To liaise with the Junior Head Coach, Junior Co-ordinator and other team managers to make team selection for YYHL and other matches through the season
• To be the points of contact for YYHL in order to communicate fixture dates and venues to parents of team players
• Provide first point of contact for team players
• Be in attendance at matches
• To report team results to the Club Admin Officer
• Be aware of the Clubs policy on Safeguarding and Protecting young people in hockey

Role: To ensure the smooth running of their team
Key Tasks:
• Attend selection meetings
• Work with other Team Captains to ensure available players are optimally allocated each week - enter teams on GMS
• Provide first point of contact for players seeking advice
• Collect match fees on a weekly basis and transfer to the treasurer
• Link with the Club Secretary to ensure all squad members have paid their annual subscriptions
• Promote Club events
• Submit match results to the appropriate body
Fundraising Lead: Currently vacant but key events being organised by Anna Clish
Role: To create a working party which will then plan, schedule and organise the Club’s
social calendar and fundraising events.
Key Tasks:
• Events might include: Start of season event, Cheese and Wine, Club dinner, Race nights
• Publish the Social calendar within the clubhouse and via the website
• Liaise with the Treasurer re planned cost of events and get their agreement
• Liaise with the Sport’s Club regarding bookings, catering etc.
Sponsorship Lead : Anna Clish
Role: To secure sponsorship for the Hockey Club.
Key Tasks:
• Raises and organises sponsorship of the Hockey Club
• The point of contact for members to talk about their sponsorship ideas
• Manages the clubhouse advertising TV screen.
