Doncaster set out with the aim of getting a much needed win against Leeds University, on the back of two losses albeit one in the cup.

The first half commenced and Doncaster started well, carving out a number of chances. The best opportunity of the half with Saywell as he burst clear, when a shot would have been the best option, he chose to square it to the advancing Beverley with the keeper committed. The ground was too much to make up for Beverley and the chance was missed. At half time the score remained 0-0.

The second half started in the same vein, chance after chance went by against a visibly weaker Leeds Uni side. The deadlock was finally broken by Doncaster with a cross to Proctor which was converted well.

Doncaster needed to get a second and after some shaky moments with some questionable umpiring, the result was put to bed when Saywell rounded off a similar move to the first goal.

The result seemed a foregone conclusion in hindsight, although Doncaster made hard work of a game that should have been over by half time.
