Chairman’s Welcome
As Doncaster Hockey Club proudly celebrates its 125th anniversary, we stand at an exciting and pivotal moment in our history. Our focus is clear: to build a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable future both on and off the pitch.
Our purpose is simple yet powerful – to be a welcoming community hockey club where every member can enjoy the game, develop their skills, and fulfil their potential.
At the heart of everything we do are our core values of Community, Respect, and Development. These values guide our decisions, shape our culture, and define what it truly means to be part of Doncaster Hockey Club. We are committed to fostering an environment where all members, regardless of age or ability, feel valued, supported, and connected – ensuring hockey is accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
We have already made important strides in enhancing our junior provision. With the introduction of fair game-time policies and a dedicated coaching framework, we are laying strong foundations for long-term player development. Every junior selected for matches is guaranteed a minimum of 50% playing time across the season, while our coaching teams work in line with club-wide principles to support each player’s growth in a safe and positive environment.
Looking ahead, we also recognise the challenges we face. A key priority is the essential replacement of our playing surface by 2029, a project vital to the continued success of the club. To achieve this, we have launched a dedicated fund, supported by our club lottery, which will play a central role in ensuring we reach our target. Financial sustainability remains a cornerstone of our strategy as we futureproof both our facilities and operations.
With 20 teams already competing across our junior and open-age sections, our ambition is to increase participation and expand opportunities by introducing even more teams in the years ahead. Together, we want to grow the wonderful game of hockey and continue our proud tradition as one of the country’s leading community clubs.
Thank you for your support – whether as a player, parent, coach, volunteer, or fan. It is your commitment that makes Doncaster Hockey Club such a special place.
