Week 7 of the 2026/27 Hockey season
It was a cold, wet and windy Saturday with only two of our teams in action:
Saturday 24th October
Away fixtures
Danby 1 v Doncaster L3/4
4 : 0
It was a very cold and windy day in Whitby as Doncaster 3/4s travelled away to face Danby.
Doncaster made a positive start to the match, showing great determination and working hard as a team. The defence was strong throughout the first half, with the players battling against both the challenging weather conditions and a determined Danby side. Despite their efforts, Danby managed to find the back of the net once before half-time, leaving Doncaster 1–0 down at the break.
The second half saw Doncaster continue to work hard and play some good hockey. The team remained committed, with everyone putting in a fantastic effort to keep Danby at bay. Despite creating opportunities and showing plenty of fight, Doncaster were unable to break through Danby’s defence and get themselves on the scoresheet.
As the game progressed, the cold and windy conditions began to take their toll, and Danby managed to add three further goals. However, the scoreline didn’t reflect the determination and resilience shown by the Doncaster players, who continued to defend bravely and support one another right until the final whistle.
A special well done to Ellena, who was named Player of the Match for her fantastic efforts!
Although it wasn’t the result Doncaster had hoped for, the team can be proud of their hard work, strong defending and team spirit in some very challenging conditions. Well done to everyone who battled on in the cold and wind!
Leeds Adel v Doncaster M4/5
6 : 0
Doncaster 4/5s travelled to Leeds Adel for their first cup game of the season, fielding a very young side whose average age was considerably boosted by the inclusion of veterans Martin Brown and Steve Holmes!
Doncaster made a strong start, putting Leeds Adel under pressure and creating several good chances during the opening 20 minutes. Unfortunately, young Benjamin suffered a nasty injury in the opening minutes, later confirmed to be a fractured wrist. Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.
Despite Doncaster's promising start, two quick goals just before half-time gave Leeds Adel the advantage.
The second half proved more challenging, with injuries, inexperience and difficult weather conditions making it hard for Doncaster to maintain their early pressure. There were still some bright attacking spells, but Leeds Adel took their chances to run out 6–0 winners.
Doncaster will now turn their attention to the Plate competition, where the young side will look to build on their performances and make a push for some silverware.
