Lindum v Doncaster 1
0 : 0

Friday night saw Doncaster take on Lindum in what proved to be a hard-fought and competitive 0–0 draw. Doncaster controlled large spells of possession and created numerous opportunities throughout the game, but an outstanding performance from the Lindum goalkeeper kept the visitors at bay.
Lindum also created a handful of chances of their own but were unable to convert, thanks largely to Doncaster’s defensive resilience. B was a constant attacking threat throughout the game, while Sarah delivered a commanding performance at the back, shutting down Lindum’s attacking opportunities and helping secure the clean sheet.

Match reports Saturday 7th February

L1
Harrogate 1 v Doncaster L1
0 : 1

The squad travelled to Harrogate the following day, producing a performance very similar in style to Friday evening. Doncaster again dominated possession and created a number of chances but initially struggled to convert their pressure into goals.
The breakthrough finally came in the final quarter through a well-worked short corner routine, finished confidently by Lucy, securing a deserved 1–0 victory and all three points. Lucy’s performance, alongside a strong all-round display from Abby, earned them Player of the Match honours.
Results elsewhere in the league went Doncaster’s way, leaving them sitting just two points behind York, who still hold a game in hand. With momentum building again, the title race remains wide open and firmly within Doncaster’s reach.

L2
Doncaster L2 v Harrogate 2
0 : 3

Doncaster Hockey Club Ladies 2s faced a tough challenge against Harrogate in a highly competitive and aggressive match. From the first whistle, Harrogate applied constant pressure, moving the ball quickly and testing the Doncaster defence.
Despite a determined and resilient performance from Doncaster, Harrogate capitalised on their chances to secure a 3–0 victory. Doncaster continued to battle throughout, showing strong teamwork and commitment, but were ultimately unable to break through a well-organised Harrogate side.

L3
Doncaster L3 V SUBHC 2
0 : 7

On a cold but dry Saturday morning the L3 played at home against SUBC.
It only took Bankers 2 minutes to score their first goal from open play. Their next goal followed 11 minutes later after a period of end to end play. After Bankers failed to convert a short corner the ball was effectively passed to the other end where Paige just missed a goal for DHC.
Half time 0:2
Following a team talk the Donny ladies appeared to come out with renewed enthusiasm but unfortunately the goals just kept coming from Bankers who used their skills with numerous first touch passes.
Final score 0:7
Bankers showed why they sit top of the table and remain unbeaten.
On a positive note SUBC were awarded 8 short corners throughout the match with the Donny ladies defending every one effectively.
MOM was Victoria for being solid in defence and for her fantastic work rate from start to finish.

L4
Rotherham 3 v Doncaster L4
4 : 2

Doncaster Ladies 4s battled hard in tricky, drizzly conditions, testing their skill and teamwork throughout the match. Binnie worked hard in goal as Rotherham applied early pressure, scoring in the 10th minute. Doncaster reacted well, and good build-up play led to Sue finishing confidently to level the score at 1–1 with a cracking goal.
At the back, Kerry, Grace, and Izzy battled tirelessly, but Rotherham managed to score twice more before half-time, leaving Doncaster trailing 1–3. Despite the setback, the team stayed positive and communicated well to drive through into the second half.
In the second half, the midfield—Sophie M, Jane, Lauren, and Vicki—worked hard to win the ball and push the team forward, even as Rotherham added another goal. Up front, Sue, Pat, Helen, and Saffy kept pressing and creating chances, and their persistence led to a late Doncaster goal from Sue to make it 2–4.
Although the final score didn’t go their way, Doncaster Ladies 4s showed strong teamwork, great communication, and real resilience in challenging, wet conditions.

M1
Doncaster M1 v Didsbury Northern
3 : 1

The evening of Saturday the 7th saw the Doncaster 1st team play Didsbury Northern at the John S Marshall Arena under the flood lights. A few changes and unavailability's were present leading to a slightly different line up put out including L Rudd being brought back up after his last stint for the 1st team taking place at the end of last season. Despite the changes, the tactics work and warm up surrounded in positivity ultimately enabled the 1's to start prepared in high spirits.
A rainy and cold night was ahead, but the home side started brightly, setting the tempo early with confident passing and high work rate. Plenty of opportunities arose and were created as a result of a fluid and dynamic midfield, with the likes of L Withington and J Powell playing the linking role between the defence and attack. This collective effort paid off as Doncaster opened the scoring through a mighty short corner executed by M Gibson. Didsbury Northern responded well and remained competitive, forcing Doncaster to defend smartly and stay organised at the back.
Doncaster doubled their advantage in the 3rd quarter as a result of T Shelley's composure and goal scoring abilities in the circle assisted by the Rudd, capitalising on another positive attacking phase further taking control of the game.
The defence remained solid, limiting Didsbury’s chances, with crucial tackles as well as some awesome saves thanks to M Davidson in goal.
A 3rd goal hit the score sheet for Donny in the 56th minute from another spot on short corner by M Gibson. The hard work lasted until the end of the game but Didsbury did manage to slip one past seeing the game out 3:1.
A great win had by Doncaster this weekend. The positivity, teamwork and efforts maintained throughout the game were outstanding and are certainly the correct things to be taking forward into future games.

M2
Doncaster M2 v Wakefield 1
2 : 1

Doncaster hosted Wakefield 1s this weekend in what promised to be a feisty Yorkshire derby.
The visitors started as the stronger side and put Doncaster under early pressure, but the 2's dug in and refused to concede. The defence held firm, with Bradders producing a vital save on the stroke of the first quarter to keep the scores level and show Wakey it would take something special to get past him.
However, Wakefield eventually broke the deadlock in the second quarter, capitalising on a quick break to make it 1-0. In previous games we might have folded at that point, but not this Doncaster side. Heads stayed up, intensity lifted, and what followed was some of the best hockey the 2's have played all season.
Wave after wave of Doncaster pressure followed, and in the final quarter it finally paid off. A penalty corner was coolly dispatched by Fearny, who slotted home expertly to level the scores and inspire the young Donny team to go onto win the game.
With seconds left on the clock, a nasty foul by Wakefield on J Hensh, earning themselves a 10-minute yellow. Doncaster reacted instantly, playing the ball fast and countering at pace. G Hensh fired a ball across goal where H Gunning was perfectly placed to bag the winner with the last touch of the game.
Absolute scenes in the home end and jubilation on the pitch for the mighty whites. Hopefully we can take this momentum onto next weeks game against Lindum at home.

M3
Kingston - upon - Hull v Doncaster M3
3 : 2

Doncaster men’s 3's travelled to Kingston upon Hull hoping to continue their 2026 unbeaten run.
Doncaster started strongly, nearly scoring in the first few minutes. Unfortunately it was the home team who scored first from a short corner but this didn’t rattle Doncaster and they continued applying pressure.
Doncaster didn’t have to wait long for an equaliser, for the second time in the game M Goodwin found himself in front of goal. This time the keeper was helpless as he put the ball into the backboard after a well worked move in the D.
Half time came with it all level and Doncaster were looking the more dangerous.
Doncaster took the lead within minutes of the restart through another show of fine passing finished off by W Harris.
The home team hadn’t given up and were testing Beau through crash balls and short corners, with the keeper making some quality saves. Unfortunately Hull equalised midway through the half via a well finished breakaway.
A controversial few minutes followed as a Hull defender threw himself to the ground trying to make a tackle inadvertently taking down R Wilson. No card was given to the defender but Wilson showed his frustration with the umpire receiving a green which was upgraded to a 10 minute yellow for his choice words.
Doncaster re-grouped now being down to 10 but Hull gained a further short corner and were able to punish Doncaster taking the lead.
Doncaster fought for the remainder of the game and were unlucky not to equalise, a well matched game that could have gone either way.

M4
Doncaster M4 v Horncastle 1
1 : 5

Doncaster 4's faced a tough challenge today as they welcomed league leaders and unbeaten Horncastle 1s in what was always expected to be a difficult fixture.
Despite the opposition’s strong form, Doncaster started the match brightly and enjoyed a spell of control during the first half. Their positive play was rewarded with a well-worked opening goal, finished clinically by N Whiteman following some excellent passing play. Doncaster continued to look composed in open play, but Horncastle showed their quality from set pieces, converting two well-taken short corners to turn the game around. Doncaster went into the break 2–1 down but remained confident in their performance.
The home side again began the second half strongly, pressing Horncastle and competing well across the pitch. However, the high work rate from the opening stages began to take its toll as the half progressed. Horncastle capitalised on this, adding two further goals to extend their lead.
Despite the score line, Doncaster never let their heads drop and continued to battle right until the final whistle.
The final score of 5–1 to Horncastle was somewhat flattering, as Doncaster produced a spirited performance against top-of-the-table opposition.
Player of the Match: N Whiteman

M5
City of York v Doncaster M5
2 :2

Doncaster showed incredible heart this weekend, twice coming from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against a seasoned City of York (supported) side. Facing an opposition reinforced by higher-team experience, the lads stepped up to the challenge with a much-improved second-half display that showcased the true depth of the squad.
-Midfield Battle & Debut Excellence
The game was an end-to-end affair from the whistle, with both sides displaying high levels of individual skill. A major talking point was the debut of B. Ogley in the heart of the pitch. Ogley delivered a strong, physical performance, looking right at home against York’s experienced core.
He was well-supported by the tireless work rate of S. Nichol and T. Benson, who were instrumental in transitioning play and disrupted York's rhythm throughout the afternoon. Despite the pressure, York managed to break the deadlock with a clinical strike from the edge of the D, leaving Doncaster trailing at the break.
-Tactical Shift & The Comeback
Halftime discussions were clear: play our own game. The focus shifted to crisp passing and selfless teamwork, and the impact was immediate. Early in the second half, a beautiful passing sequence through the midfield carved York open. I. Green found himself in close quarters with the keeper and expertly slipped the ball home for a well-deserved equalizer.
York briefly reclaimed the lead against the run of play, but Doncaster’s spirit never wavered. L. Binks continued to drive the team forward, eventually winning a crucial penalty corner. The routine was executed perfectly slipped left, then fired back across the face of goal for I. Green to divert home for his second of the match.
Defensive Grit & Youth Talent
The result was underpinned by a massive defensive shift. C. Porter and D. Robinson, R Housham and J Shephard were rock-solid at the back, thwarting several dangerous York breaks as the visitors pushed their stronger players forward.
Special mention must also go to G. Pye, who put in a notable shift in only his second senior game, showing great composure under pressure.
Top Performers:
* Brace Hero: I. Green
* Solid Debut: B. Ogley
* Defensive Rocks: C. Porter & D. Robinson

Match reports Sunday 8th February

L4
Doncaster L4 v Dronfield
4 : 1

Doncaster ladies 4's were determined to bring home the points this Sunday afternoon and were not disappointed.
A strong defensive line, experience in the middle and skilful play up front soon put us in the lead by Sue. The opposition were strong and quick on the counter attacks but some solid defence work by Lowrie, Becky, Grace and Izzy  and excellent GK by Heather ensured Doncaster did not concede any goals.
Tireless work by the midfielders saw plenty of strong tackles and gaining possession of the ball passing up to the forwards who utilised these chances well. A well deserved hat trick from Saffy saw Doncaster leading 4-1 by half time.
More of the same from Doncaster in the second half resulting in a good result for the team. A few near misses near the good could have seen a few more goals but a well deserved win and some good battling from all team members.
Well done ladies!
