Week 4
Match reports Saturday 3rd October
L1
Doncaster L1 v Leeds
2 : 0
Doncaster bounced back from last weekend’s defeat with an excellent 2–0 home victory over Leeds.
After a competitive opening quarter, Neve L broke the deadlock in the second from a penalty corner. Doncaster began to win the ball well through the middle of the pitch before finding space out wide and causing Leeds problems.
The second came in the third quarter through Connie C. A quickly taken free hit just outside the 23 and some excellent early connections left Leeds unable to put pressure on the ball, allowing Connie to receive at the top of the circle and fire home a brilliant reverse strike.
Player of the Match: Connie C
Another superb performance from Connie, who continues to be a real threat going forward this season.
The three points move Doncaster up to 4th in the Yorkshire & North East Women’s Premier Division, with two wins, a draw and one defeat from the opening four games.

Doncaster L2 v Tadcaster 1
3 : 1
Another week another ladies 2s fixture. Going into the day the girls were unbeaten so far 1 draw 2 wins and riding the high of last weeks 2-0 win against Selby. This was the 2s second home fixture and after a dominate display of bankers last time at home the girls were aiming the repeat the show of force and put on another attack heavy game.
The game started with absolute dominance from the 2s wining a couple of corners which resulted in some early shots on target. Sadly however against the run of play the opposition broke on a counter attack winning a corner which was converted to put the away side up 1-0. The girls did not back down and came out of this set back swinging. There was a lot of corners and touches in the opposition D but as in previous weeks the xG was high but the conversion was not there until Georgie A stepped up on a corner to level the game.
Half time 1-1
After a positive half time with a message of believe the goals will come and they will the girls continued to dominate and Georgie A stepped up again to put the girls 2-1 10 minutes into the second half. From this point the opposite side had ran out of ideas and Doncaster created a unbelievable amount of chances and won an insane amount of corners. The girls 70 minutes of effort and good hockey was rewarded with a goal by Liv Q from a corner in the dying minutes putting the final stamp on the game for another Doncaster W.
4 games in 2 home 2 away 1 draw 3 wins unbeaten and within touching distance of top of the league.
Away at York next week will be tough game but with the momentum our girls are carrying another win is definitely on the cards.
Thankyou for your continued support at home and away.

L3
Brigg 2 v Doncaster L3
1 : 0
Doncaster Ladies 3s travelled to Brigg on a red hot day with only 11 players.
We made a positive start and had a few penalty corners but Brigg defended well keeping it 0-0. Both teams battled hard, with the game going back and forth. Neither side was willing to give anything away, and both had chances but both defences remained strong. Every attack was quickly met with a response, making it a truly end-to-end contest.
As the match went on, the intensity only increased. We created several good opportunities and came close to breaking the deadlock, but the opposition goalkeeper stood firm.
With the final whistle almost within reach, the match still looked destined to finish 0–0. However, in the last minute, the opposition found a breakthrough and scored the only goal of the game.
Despite the disappointment, the team can be proud of the performance. It was an incredibly close match where the result could have gone either way. Everyone fought until the very end, and the effort, determination and teamwork shown throughout the game were outstanding.
L4
Sheffield 5 v Doncaster L4
3 : 3
Doncaster and Sheffield battled to a thrilling 3-3 draw in a closely contested match. Sheffield drew first blood in the 10th minute, with almost their first attack in Doncaster's half. Doncaster quickly responded through a lovely goal from Pat from a rebound off a short corner in the 22nd minute, leveling the score. Sheffield then regained their lead in the 29th minute and extended it further to 3-1 just before halftime, with the numerical advantage of substitutes clearly showing.
The second half saw a determined comeback from Doncaster with excellent attacking play from Grace, Sue and Ali and Pat. Doncaster pulled one back in the 42nd minute, making it 3-2. The momentum shifted, and Pat scored her second of the game, to bring Doncaster level at 3-3. A controversial moment occurred when Sheffield's foot was deemed over the line, resulting in a penalty. However, the umpire changed their mind upon realizing the ball had already crossed the line, negating the penalty. The match ultimately ended at 3-3.
M2
Wakefield 1 v Doncaster M2
4 : 0
The 2s travelled to Wakey this weekend with just 11 players and Elmo, hoping to pull off another cheeky win like last season.
The lads knew it would be a tough game, but it was always going to be a great opportunity to test ourselves and learn. From the first whistle, the team showed a fantastic work rate, with everyone putting in a shift and working hard for each other.
Despite the effort, we ultimately fell to a 4-0 defeat, conceding one goal in each quarter. However, the score line certainly didn’t reflect the way we played, with plenty of positives to take from the performance.
A tough afternoon, but plenty of lessons learned, skills developed and things to build on into next week’s game against Stockton.
M3
Doncaster M3 v Leeds 4
0 : 6
M4
Doncaster M4 v Rotherham 2
1 : 4
Doncaster Hockey Club Men’s 4th team travelled into their fourth game of the season on Saturday, still searching for their first points of the campaign, as they took on local rivals Rotherham Hockey Club.
Doncaster made a positive start to the game, putting in a strong first-half performance and matching their opponents across the pitch. However, Rotherham opened the scoring from a short corner that left the Doncaster players questioning the decision. Doncaster responded well, with Fearny finding the back of the net to bring the scores level and give the visitors a deserved foothold in the contest.
Unfortunately, Doncaster were unable to maintain the same standards after the break. Despite Rotherham having a goalkeeper serve a two-minute suspension, Doncaster couldn't make the most of the opportunity to put pressure on their hosts. Rotherham grew into the second half, took control of the game and capitalised on Doncaster's drop in performance to run out 4–1 winners.
It's another frustrating result for the 4s, who showed plenty of promise in the first half but will know they need to maintain that level for the full 70 minutes if they are to start picking up points.
Man of the Match: George Pye
The team will look to put this result behind them, learn from the performance and bounce back in their next fixture as they continue the search for their first points of the season.
M5
York 6 v Doncaster M5
2 : 1
M5 travelled to York again with a mix of youth and experience. First half was an even game with end to end hockey with out much trouble to either goal. York broke the deadlock in last minutes of the first half with a short corner kept out but then finding its way back to the striker for a 2nd attempt which went in .
Half time team talk was to press higher and get more into the York D . For the first 10 minutes York were on top but Donny defence held firm. Doncaster then started showing attacking intent and had a string if short corners and hit the post before a well worked short corner with Areeb passing back to Rhys who had injected to slot in back post . Unfortunately York regained the lead with 5 minutes left when a turnover in midfield led to a breakaway and York slotting in.
Overall decent performance from Donny and the youngsters are really developing.
Mom Nicholas P great work in midfield
DoD has to be Areeb for managing to hit a car in the car park in the warm up.

b]Doncaster M1[/b] v SUBHC 1
2 : 2
Firstly, thank you to all who came down to support, it’s never taken for granted and is something that the team value immensely.
The game started with Doncaster dominating the ball and creating plenty of chances, however against the run of play through an unfortunate touch from a Doncaster defender Sheffield Bankers took the lead. After the goal the game balanced out in terms of possession on the ball and Doncaster’s chances limited. It took Doncaster till halfway through the second quarter to capitalise on one of their chances this time through a M. Gibson penalty corner. Unfortunately, only two minutes later a lapse in concentration allowed Sheffield Bankers an opportunity which they scored just before halftime.
The second half started fairly evenly with neither side really taking control and cards halting momentum for both sides. Doncaster searching for an equalising stepped up the pressure but struggled to covert any of the shots or short corners they managed to create. However, in the final minute of the game another M. Gibson short corner saw Doncaster go deservedly level.
The squad although disappointed not to have taken more than the 1 point from the game look to build on the positives and hopefully build towards a win in Durham next week.
