L1
Doncaster L1 v Durham Uni 4
2 : 2
It was a tough contest for Doncaster Ladies 1s on Saturday as they faced Durham University 4s in a game of two very different halves.
Doncaster started slowly, while Durham came out of the blocks sharply and applied early pressure. The opening goal came in unfortunate fashion, rebounding off a Doncaster defender’s foot and falling kindly for Durham to capitalise. Durham then added a second from a short corner, giving them a 2–0 lead at the break.
A strong and honest half-time team talk sparked a completely different response in the second half. Doncaster returned to the pitch with renewed intensity and dominated large spells, working tirelessly to claw their way back into the game.
The comeback began with a fantastic individual effort from B, who drove forward and finished superbly to halve the deficit. Momentum continued to build, and Doncaster were rewarded again later in the final quarter with a well-taken short corner to level the score at 2–2.
With the pressure mounting and Durham on the back foot, it felt as though another five or ten minutes might have seen Doncaster complete the turnaround and secure a dramatic 3–2 win. However, the match ended level, with a point that keeps Doncaster firmly in the title race.
There were several standout performances. Charlotte and Abby were exceptional at the back, providing composure and solidity, while Lucy and Annabelle were outstanding in midfield, securing possession and driving the team forward throughout the second half resurgence.
A strong response, a valuable point, and plenty of positives to build on as the season continues.

Scarborough v Doncaster L2
8 :0
Doncaster Ladies 2s made the trip to Scarborough in less than ideal circumstances, arriving without masks or balls, which meant preparations were disrupted and the warm-up fell short of the usual standard, leading us to start on the back foot.
Despite the challenging build-up, Doncaster settled quickly and began playing some composed, structured hockey. The midfield worked tirelessly to link play, moving the ball well through the channels and showing determination in both attack and recovery. Defensively, the back line remained organised under pressure, making critical saves and interceptions.
A key factor in the contest was squad numbers. Scarborough were able to rotate regularly, keeping fresh legs on the pitch throughout, while Doncaster had just one substitute available. As the game wore on, the physical toll began to show, and Scarborough capitalised on their advantage to convert their chances.
Although the final scoreline saw Scarborough win by 8 goals, it did not fairly reflect the overall play of the game. Doncaster’s defensive unit and midfield in particular delivered resilient performances, continuing to compete and battle for every ball until the final whistle.

Alford & District v Doncaster L3
9 : 1
Doncaster Ladies 3s endured a tough afternoon on the road as they travelled to Skegness to face Alford & District 1s, ultimately falling to a 9–1 defeat. Despite the score line, there were plenty of positives to take from a spirited and determined team performance.
Alford started strongly, making the most of home advantage and early pressure to build momentum. Doncaster, however, refused to let their heads drop. The defensive unit worked tirelessly under sustained attack, with goalkeeper Binnie producing a string of outstanding saves to keep the score line respectable. Time and again she denied Alford from close range, pulling off brave blocks and sharp reflex stops that drew praise from teammates and spectators alike.
In midfield, Doncaster showed some composed passages of play, linking up well and working hard to transition the ball forward. Their perseverance paid off halfway through the second half when Priya found the back of the net with a well- deserved goal for Doncaster.
Although Alford continued to press and add to their tally, Doncaster maintained their work rate and team spirit until the final whistle. The resilience shown throughout the match was a credit to the squad.
Player of the Match deservedly went to goalkeeper Binnie for her fantastic saves and unwavering commitment between the posts.
Final score: Alford & District 1s 9–1 Doncaster Ladies 3s.

Doncaster M1 v Durham Uni 2
2 : 0
After the Ladies earned a well-deserved point from being 2-0 down, the pressure was on the lads to deliver a Super Saturday for the capacity crowd down at the JSM.
Quarter 1 was a frantic one with the visitors having more chances than us - keeper Davidson
pulled off a couple of spectacular saves to keep things even.
Quarter 2 was where Doncaster kicked into gear and took the lead through another incredible solo goal from Pickles, who quite rightly, gave it the big one on the celebration afterwards.
As they were a goal down, Durham came chasing for the ball which actually allowed us more space to play in. We had more joy in wider areas and more circle entries which resulted in us getting the first corner of the game. After a re-award, the PCA was converted and Doncaster had a precious 2-goal lead.
Maximum effort and concentration was required from the lads to see the game out, and I’m
delighted to say that everyone delivered on that front. Doncaster won the game and kept a clean sheet putting some real distance between ourselves and Durham, who still remain a place lower than us in the table, but to the tune of about 10 points.
Another Saturday night fixture this weekend as we welcome Lindum to the JSM, which I’m sure will be one not to miss!

Doncaster 2s made the long trip north for a 16:00 pushback away at Durham University Hockey Club, determined to build on recent performances and put in a strong shift on the road.
Donny started brightly, immediately taking the game to the hosts which nearly paid off when a promising attacking move carved Durham open, only for what looked like a clear-cut penalty stroke to be waved away by the umpire. Unfortunately, the deadlock was broken in a frustrating fashion, whilst mid-substitution, Doncaster were exposed by a swift Durham breakaway, which was smashed into the roof of the net to give the home side the lead.
The second period continued at a frantic pace. Doncaster created several promising openings, but despite getting into dangerous areas, they couldn’t quite convert. As the half drew to a close, Durham were awarded a penalty corner after the halftime whistle had gone. The hosts made it count, doubling their advantage and sending Donny into the break 2–0 down despite a competitive display.
HT: 2-0
The third quarter saw the 2s respond with some of their best hockey of the afternoon. Outplaying the Uni side with a mixture of experience and speed that nearly inspired a comeback.
However as Doncaster pushed to get back into the contest, the game began to stretch. Durham capitalised with a couple of less-than-glamorous finishes in the final two quarters, extending their lead and ultimately putting the result beyond doubt.
FT: 4-0
A fantastic effort from the 12 lads who made the journey, the attitude and work rate never dropped. We’ll regroup and take that energy into next week’s home fixture against Whitley Bay Hockey Club in our continued efforts to avoid relegation.

Doncaster M3 v Sheffield 3
3 : 3
With both teams both sitting mid-table, the game was to be more a local rival clash than about affecting league positions.
Doncaster had a bare 11 due to availability and they knew there was a tough 70 minute battle ahead.
The start was promising and Doncaster took the lead early on through R Wilson. Sheffield responded and almost immediately levelled the scoring through a scrappy goal that only just saw the ball cross the line.
Sheffield upped their pressing, squeezing the Doncaster defence at every chance. They took the lead later in the first half meaning it went into half time 1-2.
Doncaster regrouped in the second half and tried to play more positive hockey and create more chances. The equaliser didn’t take long, with Doncaster earning a short corner and R Wilson despatching a drag flick past the helpless keeper.
Sheffield fought back and had a few close chances that were kept out through good defending and another solid performance from Beau in goal. Sheffield seemed overly pleased when they won a short corner, and it was clear shortly after why this was. A missile of a drag flick found the top corner, with J Gleeson on the post cowering away to avoid injury.
Doncaster battled on in this game of attrition, injuries to both J Mallender and R Wilson meant a restructure and some time spent being down to 10 men.
Doncaster managed to take it level when Raphi attempted a close range flick on goal but found W Harris lurking at the back post to see it goal-wards.
A hard fought game for Doncaster with a draw a deserved outcome. Final score 3-3

The first half was closely contested, with both sides creating chances. Sheffield took the lead when a ball flashed across goal and was unfortunately turned into his own net by Brown, making it 1–0 at the break.
Doncaster battled hard in the second half despite tiring legs and were rewarded late on. A well-worked short corner was finished by Adam Scott to secure a deserved equaliser.

Doncaster M5 v Brigg 3
2 : 8
It was always going to be a tall order for the Doncaster 5th team this weekend as they faced off against league high-fliers Brigg 3s. Having already secured their promotion, Brigg arrived with the confidence of a side at the top of their game.
From the opening whistle, the visitors took the game by the scruff of the neck, dominating possession and pinning Doncaster deep into their own half. A clinical opening spell saw Brigg slot home three quick goals, subduing the home side and leaving them firmly on the back foot.
Defensive Resiliency
Despite the onslaught, Doncaster refused to fold. The score line could have been far more severe if not for a spirited defensive effort and the heroics of I. Christlo in goal. Showing incredible agility and "quick hands," Christlo pulled off a string of vital saves to keep the deficit manageable. However, the relentless pressure eventually told, and Doncaster headed into the halftime break trailing 4–0.
The Second Half Fightback
The second period began much like the first, with Brigg moving the ball with precision and testing the Doncaster resolve. Yet, rather than fading away, the home side found their second wind.
Doncaster rallied and earned a penalty corner; a clever slip to the left found an opening, and the ball was converted from close range to put Doncaster on the board. The momentum shifted momentarily as the midfield and wingers began to find space. After some excellent fluid movement through the phases, R. Macphee was released one-on-one with the Brigg keeper. Macphee kept his cool, rounding the keeper to slot home a well-deserved second goal.
Clinical Finish
Stung by the Doncaster mini-revival, the promotion-winners reasserted their dominance. Brigg showcased why they are headed for the league above, utilizing clever interplay and clinical execution on their own penalty corners to pull away once more.
The match finished 2–8—a tough result on paper, but a performance from Doncaster that showed plenty of heart against the best side in the division.
