Lindum 2 v Doncaster 2
2 : 0
Doncaster were away this weekend against Lindum for a 10.30 am pushback and were looking for their first win of the season.
The game started and for the first 10 mins Doncaster were pressuring Lindum and keeping the ball in the midfield . But Lindum managed to break through and won their first short corner of the game . Taking a straight strike from the top of the D Lindum fired it into the back of the goal to score their first goal after 10 mins. This fired Lindum up and Doncaster then struggled to maintain possession of the ball with Lindum winning all the 50/50 balls and intercepting Doncaster passes. There were flurries of good play driving the ball up the pitch with good linking play between Doncaster’s defence and midfield but Doncaster didn’t really threaten their defence or keeper in the first half, leaving the score at 1-0 at half time.
The 2nd half Doncaster were determined and still very much in the game they started and they continued to build the play with the midfield working hard to get the ball up into the oppositions D. There were a couple of chances missed with the ball hitting the post only to bounce out and also winning a couple of short corners but it wasn’t to be for Doncaster . Lindum counter-attacked and Doncaster managed to defend well with keeper Caitlin making a couple of crucial saves. But at 55 minutes in Lindum managed to steal the ball from our defender at the top of the D crossing the ball to their player in front of the goal . This was defended well by Saskia but the managed to cross it to their player back post and with a dive from their player they managed to knock it into the back of the net for their 2nd goal. Doncaster continued to push forward working hard to get their elusive first goal of the game but it wasn’t to be . The game ended Lindum 2 Doncaster 0 and Doncaster still looking for their first win of the season !

Doncaster 3 v Rotherham 2
1 : 5
It was a game of two halves for Doncaster Ladies 3s as they faced a strong Rotherham side on Saturday. Despite the final score line, the team showed great resilience and spirit—particularly in the second half.
Rotherham came out firing from the first whistle, putting Doncaster under intense pressure and capitalising on early chances to take control of the game. This saw them go into half-time with a commanding 4–0 lead.
However, Doncaster emerged from the break with renewed energy and determination. Their hard work was rewarded when Nat found the back of the net with a composed finish, giving Doncaster a well-deserved goal.
The second half ended level at 1–1, a testament to Doncaster’s improved structure, teamwork, and fighting spirit. There were several impressive performances across the pitch, but Laria stood out for her tireless effort and composure under pressure—earning her the Player of the Match award.
While the final result wasn’t what Doncaster hoped for, the team can take plenty of positives from a much-improved second-half display that showed their potential and determination heading into future fixtures.

Pheonix v Doncaster L4
4 : 0
Doncaster showed great effort and teamwork but were beaten 4–0 by a well-experienced Phoenix side.
Sue, Pat, and Pam worked tirelessly up front, creating good attacking moves however none were successful with an unfortunate hit of the post by Sue . Kerrie, Grace, and Sophie M were strong in defence, clearing danger away repeatedly . Jane held firm in midfield with great support from Lauren, helping to link play across the pitch to Sophie L. Special mention to Binnie in goal who made loads of excellent saves especially in the 5 short corners in the second half!
After a tough first half the second half improved the play with better communication throughout the team leading to cleaner play.
It was also the first match for Florence and Vicky, who both showed real promise and fitted in brilliantly with the team. Florence had a brilliant 1v1 with the keeper however it didn’t end in a goal for Donny.
Although Phoenix took their chances well, Doncaster never gave up and can take plenty of positives from the performance.
Final Score: Phoenix 4–0 Doncaster

Lindum 2 v Doncaster M 1
0 : 1
This was certainly a fixture to highlight when the initial list came out at the start of the season - 6:30pm away at Lindum always promised to be a cracker. The chaps were in high spirits as warm ups began and despite the torrential downpour just shy of push back, Doncaster remained in fine fettle as the game began.
The early exchanges indicated that this was going to be a game between two strong sides and decided by fine margins. After 5 minutes, Tim Shelley went down with an ankle injury and was unable to continue - not the ideal way to spend his 38th birthday!
The game ebbed and flowed with both teams having plenty of chances to score, with both
goalkeepers making plenty of saves.
With the game in the balance and entering into the final knockings, Doncaster won a penalty corner. The spin move has been a popular choice of late and that was the call made at top circle. A good injection and a good trap followed, but the Lindum defence read the move. A moment of inspiration by Cresswell as he decided to round the first runner, who in reply absolutely clattered him - hard enough to fell the big South African and a penalty stroke was correctly given.
Cresswell rightly took the ball and dispatched the penalty stroke which proved to be the
difference between two good sides. Some mammoth performances in the team with the
seasoned pros managing the game and the young lads really standing up in a hostile atmosphere.
Full concentration now for Sheffield at home this weekend
M2
Stockton v Doncaster M2
8 : 1
The 2s once again travelled away, this time to face a strong Stockton side sitting second in the table. With several younger lads making their debuts, Doncaster started brightly and nearly took an early lead with two quick attacks that caught the hosts by surprise — but the final touch just eluded them.
Stockton soon responded, applying heavy pressure and eventually breaking the deadlock through a penalty corner to make it 1–0. A few more goals followed before half-time, leaving Donny 4–0 down at the break.
Despite the score line, Doncaster showed great character, continuing to create chances and refusing to give in. Stockton’s quality and experience, however, began to tell as they extended their lead further.
A moment of individual brilliance from Gunning earned Donny a short corner, which after some debate was upgraded to a penalty stroke. Up stepped G. Henshaw, who slotted it past the keeper to make it 6–1.
As the game wound down, Stockton added a couple more before the final whistle.
Full-time: Stockton 8–1 Doncaster 2s

Doncaster M3 v SUBHC 3
0 : 2

SUBHC 4 v Doncaster 4
5 : 2
This wet weekend saw Doncaster HC 4s travel to face the University of Sheffield, who currently sit undefeated at the top of the league.
With limited availability and a few illness issues, Doncaster found themselves a little short on players, with several regulars stepping up to higher teams. Despite this, the 4s approached the game with determination.
Sheffield struck first with an early goal, but Doncaster hit back almost immediately through a well-taken drag flick from T Brown, levelling the score. Both sides continued to play good hockey, making for a well-contested and evenly matched first half.
Sheffield regained the lead through a scrappy goal before adding another from a well-worked counterattack. Doncaster responded again, O Wilson finding the net to make it 3–2 going into half-time.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams creating chances and playing positive hockey. However, Sheffield managed to convert a short corner and later added a breakaway goal to finish the game 5–2 winners.
While the final score line somewhat flattered Sheffield, Doncaster can take plenty of positives from a strong performance against tough opposition. With several key fixtures ahead, the team will look to build on this display in their upcoming must-win matches.

Doncaster 5 v City of York 6
2 : 1
After a 4-0 loss against Hull at Home and a brief break the 5s had something to prove.
York 6s a mix bag of results with a narrow loss to Acomb 2 weeks prior equally up for the game.
For the 5s there were quite a few changes to the line up; notably Captain Allan Green wasn't available but the 5s welcomed M Goodwin, H Tailor and making his debut for the seniors was Oliver J. Overall a squad of 12 was assembled.
The game started strong with the 5s having a good amount of play. M Goodwin struck first with a stunning goal from an acute angle in the 15th minute. A second goal came about on the 25th from R Machphee who took the ball onto his reverse at the top of the D and sent the ball with pace and accuracy into the bottom right hand side of the goal.
York 6s though had plenty of the play themselves, with a particularly pacy young forward.
Eventually their efforts bore fruit and they picked up a goal on the half hour.
York then went from strength to strength in later stages of the 1st half but Doncaster defended well, the teams headed in to the break 2-1 to the home side.
Doncaster rallied in the 2nd half and whilst York had the majority of play including a miss, that had to be seen to be believed!
Doncaster's defence held firm, assisted by Christlo made some good sliding saves and interceptions in the Doncaster goal to ensure Doncaster retained the lead.
The game finished with a 2-1 win for the hosts.
This keeps the 5's 2nd in the league as they head to league leaders Brigg 3 next week for what will be a tough game.
