L1
Doncaster 1 v Lindum 1
0 : 2

Doncaster Ladies 1s faced Lindum 2s on Saturday in their final game before the league break, but unfortunately came away empty-handed in a 2–0 defeat.
The game began brightly for Doncaster, who dominated the opening quarter with strong possession and attacking play. Several chances were created, but despite the pressure, the team couldn’t find the breakthrough goal that could have changed the momentum of the match. With the score-line still level at half time, Lindum grew into the contest.
Playing a contrasting style to Doncaster’s small-unit linking play, Lindum opted for long passes forward to high-placed strikers. This approach eventually paid off, as one of their breakaways resulted in a one-on-one chance that was converted past Beth in goal.
Doncaster continued to push hard for an equaliser and piled on the pressure in the final quarter, but as they committed players forward, Lindum struck again on the counterattack to seal the game at 2–0.
Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take, particularly with the continued development of the juniors, who are stepping up and making an impact. Bella was deservedly named Player of the Match for her strong performance.
The loss means Doncaster go into the league break three points off the top, still very much in contention for the title. The team will use the break to regroup, recharge, and return ready to push on in the second half of the season.

L2
Pocklington v Doncaster 2
3 : 2

Doncaster Ladies 2’s pushed back bright and early in Pocklington with a squad of 15.
We didn’t start as strong as we can and should have, taking us a while to click and for the coffee to kick in. Whilst we did have some good play, Pocklington wanted the ball more and each time we got the ball out and up the pitch Pocklington intercepted and were pushing for a goal . Whilst Doncaster defended well and Jess (keeper) made some excellent saves Pocklington managed to break through and scored 2 goals in the first half.
Doncaster continued to push forward in the 2nd half but Pocklington’s defence and desire to win was too strong and they managed to get another goal to make it 3 - 0.
Doncaster suddenly the underdogs started to fight back with the 3rd goal conceded being like a switch had flicked and with 10 minutes left we started playing our game and were linking up beautifully, moving the ball from player to player with amazing runs in the mid from Emily and Poppy and in the 61st minute, we earned a short corner. The left-slip was intercepted but Narin was there ready for the rebound and BANG! A cracking strike on the rebound found the back of the net. 3-1!
Just minutes later, the pressure was relentless and another corner was earned. We ran the left slip again, which was stopped on the line but we were hungry and following a goal mouth scramble Woody got on the second rebound and found the back of the net in the 65th minute! 3-2!
We spent the final five minutes in their D, winning a few more short corners, but time just ran out before we could snag the equalizer and the game ended 3-2.
The defensive effort was incredible in the game and Jess was an absolute machine in the net, making some amazing saves and stopping Pocklington from entering the D at one point by running out to the top of the D to stop a goal scoring opportunity.
Motm: Jess

L3
Doncaster 3 v Alford & District
2 : 3

The L3 met Alford at home on Saturday afternoon.
Five minutes in Alford scored the first goal.
This was quickly followed by a good save by Caitlin denying Alford a short corner conversion.
Several minutes later it was Anne who scored the first goal for DHC after a great pass from Eleanor.
It continued to be a well matched game with pressure at both ends. It was Paige who took DHC in to the lead with a firm short corner conversion (this is becoming her signature shot).
Alford followed this with three short corners but the DHC Ladies stood firm and kept the ball out.
Half time - L3 were 2/1 up.
The second half started in a similar vein with short corners at either end.
Priya drove forward on more than one occasion but just could not get the final hit over the line.
In the meantime Caitlin continued some great saves until unfortunately Alford hit one home to equalise.
Ten minutes later Alford managed to score again. The final score ended with a 3/2 loss to Alford. This was unfortunate after the early lead but this was a well matched game.
Player of the match went to Ruby.

M1
Durham Uni 2 v Doncaster 1
0 : 5

We are in for a treat this week as the match report has been written by our very own centre
forward and wordsmith, Jack Stoves. Enjoy readers….
An early morning for the lads this week for as the match was away at Durham with a start time of 12:00. After the arduous journey the boys turned up ready to lock in and follow up on a good performance last week with another 3 points.
After a warm up that was nearly ruined by poorly placed and timed water cannons, we were ready. Durham won the toss but decided to give us push back for reasons unknown so we began.
A dominant first quarter was needed and was delivered however the ball would not hit the back of the net.
Moving into the second quarter with some serious momentum we charged out of the gates continuing with great spells of momentum and near misses. Just after 5 minutes into this quarter T Cresswell receives the ball on the baselines and wins a corner. M Gibson does what he does best and puts us 1 up with a thoroughly deserved lead.
After some more dominant play with possession we won another corner. The decision was made to deploy the spin which maintained it's 100% success record and put the lads 2-0 up
going into break.
After some inspirational words from Sir Jasper Ferguson we headed back out attacking up hill. More long spells of possession paid off with a stunning through ball from B.
Pickles which slices their team in 2 and the ball darts to the feet of T Cresswell who doesn't hesitate to pull the trigger, leaving their GK on the floor and a dint the right side board. The boys were firmly in control and refused to let up their keeping the foot on the gas a crash ball in after a deflection lands at the feet on T. Wheeldon. Now I'm not sure how but somehow the tricky forward found a way to stick it away to make the game 4-0.
Now with the goal to give M. Davidson his first clean sheet of the season the lads dug in and less than a minute later a T Shelly aerial flies over the Durham boys who could only stand and watch as T Wheeldon picks up the ball and selflessly squares it to J Powell to confirm the win at 5-0.
A great day out to take us to the break full of momentum to continue to kick on and put on another against Lindum away Saturday night under the lights in our first game back.
Thank you to the travelling fans who were unbelievable as always and enjoy your thoroughly earned break as well.

DoD - J Stoves

Lindum 2 v Doncaster 2
2 : 0

The 2s once again were short numbered, but thanks to young talent stepping up, we had 13 to face bottom side Lindum.
A promising start saw two major chances for Doncaster; however, due to good keeping, the score didn’t change. Donny continued this pressure going into the end of the first quarter, but still could not find the back of the net.
The second quarter was similar; however, a breakaway chance saw the Lindum centre forward slot one past the keeper to give the home side the lead. Heads didn’t drop, and we continued to dominate play, just lacking that final-third quality.
1-0 HT.
The third quarter saw a change in control as tired legs and lack of experience resulted in chances not being taken and costly mistakes being made. This, accompanied by being down to ten men, allowed Lindum to double their lead and make it 2-0.
Big chances at both ends that weren’t converted left the score unchanged by the end of the game, meaning Lindum took all three points. Donny sit just outside the bottom two on goals scored, with hopes to change that in the coming weeks.
2-0 FT.

M3
Doncaster 3 v Hull Uni
5 : 2

Doncaster men’s 3s welcomed bottom of the league Hull Uni 1s to the JSM arena.
Looking to get back to winning ways, Doncaster started brightly with the majority of the play. A goal came within 5 minutes from T Beverley and it looked like the game could become a goal fest. After many squandered chances Doncaster made it 2-0 before half time with a well worked goal finished by L Henderson.
It became 3-0 just after half time with another from Henderson. Hull started gaining momentum during the second half with Doncaster not defending particularly well. Some close calls came before Doncaster struck again with E Brown making it 4-0.
Doncaster’s sloppiness continued and Hull were able to get 2 goals back before R Wilson getting the final goal of the game from a short corner. 5-2 to Doncaster, not the best hockey we’ve played but comfortably taking the win

M4
Brigg 2 v Doncaster 4
4 : 3

It was a dramatic afternoon of hockey at Brigg as Doncaster came agonisingly close to pulling off an incredible comeback against an experienced home side.
The match started with Doncaster under pressure from the first whistle. Brigg’s older, well-drilled midfield dictated the early stages, forcing Doncaster deep into their own half. Despite valiant efforts from D Fotheringham and Z Hall, who worked tirelessly to break up play and push the team forward, Brigg’s composure showed as they stormed into a 3–0 lead by half time.
Doncaster, however, came out in the second half with renewed fire. The turnaround began when O Wilson produced a moment of magic firing home to make it 3–1. Minutes later, Wilson struck again—this time finishing off a clever team move to put real pressure on the hosts.
The comeback nearly gathered full steam when Doncaster were awarded a penalty flick, but R Say was cruelly denied by the post — the ball rattling off the left to the disbelief of the travelling fans.
Brigg then managed to find a fourth goal against the run of play, making it 4–2. Yet Doncaster refused to give in. O Wilson, in sensational form, completed his hat-trick late in the game, slotting home coolly to make it 4–3 and set up a nail-biting finish.
Unfortunately, Doncaster’s momentum was hampered with W Harris picking up two yellow cards and C Deakin also shown a yellow as tempers flared throughout the match.
Despite the final whistle blowing on a narrow 4–3 defeat, Doncaster’s second-half performance was full of heart, determination, and attacking flair. With Wilson’s finishing touch, the centre midfield grit of Fotheringham and Hall and finally the strong back line of Mallender, Say, Scott and Burtoft there’s plenty for Doncaster to build on heading into the next fixture.
