M2
Doncaster M2 v Harrogate M1
3 : 1
After an interesting summer transfer window the 2s went into GW1 with a new youthful side against Harrogate 1s.
Despite being under pressure in the first quarter, solid defence and an impressive performance from Bradders in goal kept the scoreline at 0-0.
After the quarter break momentum shifted and the 2s attacked with intent. Our attacking dominance showed through a fantastic attacking movement ending with a G Hensh near post finish, wrong footing the Harrogate keeper. 1-0.
We continued to dominate but a breakaway chance saw Harrogate equalise just before half time. HT 1-1
The 3rd quarter saw some of the best hockey the 2s have played in a while, outclassing the experienced travelling opposition. New signing Gainsy netted a drag flick from a PC giving us a 2-1 lead.
Class and composure from the lads saw us holding onto our lead until we were awarded a PS for a horrible tackle inside the D halting a clear goal scoring opportunity. Up stepped G Hensh to slot one into the left side netting and secure the 3 points the 2s rightfully deserved.
FT 3-1 W.
A fantastic display from a young promising side, we go again next week against Durham Uni 3s away at 4pm.

A quick goal at the start of the second half for 3-0 saw an influx of substitutes from York from the Y4 players on the side from the earlier game. As Donny legs tired York scored and then added a second from a deflected short corner. Tom B in debut made some great saves and Donny still had chances on the break. With time ticking down York scored with a pulled back ball from the by-line unluckily hitting a Donny foot for an own goal 3-3 .
No mom as it was a total team performance from the 9.
