After a solid start and a 2–2 draw away at Sheffield last weekend, Doncaster head into their first home game of the season full of confidence and looking to secure their first three points.
Tuesday’s training was hugely productive, with the squad continuing to develop their new press and the penalty corner routines looking sharper ahead of the weekend.
The squad is strengthened by the return of Scottish junior international Annabelle R, while Alice J and Elise R are two new faces bolstering an already strong group.
Doncaster will be without Jay N, who takes a quick holiday, while the home crowd continues to eagerly await the return of Bea R from her broken foot injury.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Liv J — already off the mark this season and eyeing up the league’s top goalscorer spot.
Ellie O — back in Doncaster colours and looking to give the home crowd something to cheer about.
Lindum arrive after a 1–0 defeat last weekend, and Doncaster will be looking to capitalise, play with confidence and build on the positives from the opening weekend.

The summer has seen significant changes to the Men's National League group. The most notable change saw Matt Gibson step down as player coach after 7 seasons in charge. We are delighted that Matt has decided to continue purely in a playing role as he closes in on Mark Wood's scoring record.
Our new 1st team coach is Kieran Heath, who joins us having led Sheffield to a very creditable 4th place finish in National League Conference North last year. Kieran brings plenty of coaching experience to the role having coached in Belgium and Holland and in the North East and he has certainly hit the ground running with us.
On the playing front, we have had a number of notable departures. Jon Redfern has decided to retire after amassing an incredible 367 appearances over the past 28 years, a feat that will surely never be equalled. Youngsters Ben Pickles (Wimbledon), Luke Baughan-Withington (Nottingham Uni), Thomas Wheeldon (Nottingham University) and Leo Rudd (Lindum) have all left the club as they start their university studies and we wish them all the best and who knows, we may see them in the future. Ryan Day has returned to Nottingham after 2 years of travelling up and down the M1 and Ben West is taking a sabbatical this year.
On the incoming front you will see a couple of familiar faces returning and a few new bright young stars today. Matt Priday has returned after a year in Barcelona and Freddie Haslam also returns after 4 years at Loughborough University. The newbies on show today include Sam Hood, an England under 18 defender, who joins from York and Harry Higgins, who has just returned from 3 years studying and playing in Holland, and who previously played for Harborne. Joining them are Tom Gains, part of the Worksop College conveyor belt, who joins from Wakefield, Noah Rothwell, who joins from Durham City having deferred his university place for a year, and Daniel Hucknall, who has previously played for our juniors and joins from Rotherham, and whose sister Lucy is the Ladies 1st team captain.
I know as always you will get behind all these young players and with another crop waiting in the wings in the 2nd team the future definitely looks bright.
