Sunday 29th March
Home fixtures
Doncaster U14GT2 v Huddersfield
2 : 3
U14 T2 girls played there last game of the season at home to Huddersfield- first quarter was end to end with nether side able to make a break through 2nd quarter we want to get the all wider earlier and resulted in a great run from Phoebe and pass into Aya for the first goal . Great wing play by Amber led to a short corner with Rain scoring with a well hit a shot 2-0
Half time girls wanted to swap positions so third period players in different positions didn’t work with Huddersfield dominating and bringing it back to 2-2.
For the last period we went back to starting formation with the aim to get balls wide again - was a more even period but Huddersfield won it with a shot from a short corner.
Final score 3-2 defeat
Thanks to the u12s who helped make a team today and all put in good performances .
The girls were disappointed at the end as they all felt is was a game we should have won.
Away fixtures
Wakefield v Doncaster U14B
Doncaster U14GT1
Bowden 0 Doncaster 2
We were in Manchester, of course it rained!! And proper sideways, non stop rain from start to finish.
The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the Doncaster girls who had 3 key players missing. In fact more the opposite, in what was a dominant display from start to finish, Doncaster were unlucky to not score more. But who are we to complain a 2-0 victory away from home with 2 brilliantly taken goals from Sophie.D and Louisa!
A big thanks to the parents for making the journey and braving the weather,
and an extra special thank you to Charlotte Dodds for giving up her Sunday afternoon to stand in as lead coach with Travis away playing for the men’s 1’s. Charlotte was inspirational on the side line and equally as animated as Travis!
Kingston upon Hull v Doncaster U16G
1 : 5
The girls travelled to Hull on a cold, blustery Sunday afternoon. Contrary to other games, they travelled with just one sub due to school holidays and a school hockey tour.
Goal 1: Lowri
Goal 2: Saffy
Goal 3: Abi
Goal 4: an impressive interception from Saffy half way up the pitch, outwitting 5 opponents before putting the ball in the back of the net.
Goal 5: Bella
Final result 5-1 to Doncaster.
3/3 wins since the New Year. One match to go in late April.
Well done to all the girls for showing such strong team spirit , effort and resilience in tough, difficult weather.
Special shout out to Cerys who left her goalie kit behind to play outfield for the first time in well over a year to make sure a sub was available and Lowri who cut short recuperation on a leg injury for the same reason. Further proof of the team spirit the girls have.
Thanks to the parents too who yet again stood in freezing Hull weather to support the girls. One day we may see some sun there!
