Cracking goals, great defending, and the first match for Thomas Hinchcliffe as goal keeper (who made some spectacular saves).
Each and every player put in a 100 per cent with a couple of players pushing on despite injuries.
An enjoyable first tournament and the boys have an exciting season ahead of them.

Doncaster U14B v Harrogate

The u14 boys Tier 1 team played Harrogate today in what was a great match. 2-2 the final result, both great team goals converted by Alvi Bellerby and Felix Cameron. These weren’t the only chances though, the opposition keeper had an outstanding performance and must have saved more than 13 shots. DHC’s potency came when the lads understood that attacking down the wings is the best form of offensive play.
DHC deserved the victory but it wasn’t meant to be this time. A great start to the season boys! Onto next week.

Doncaster U12G YYHL @ Chesterfield

What a fantastic weekend for the Under 12 girls at their first tournament together in Chesterfield!
The girls played every team twice and showed brilliant teamwork, determination and unselfish play throughout the day. They won all six games, finishing top of the league with an incredible +20 goal difference.
Their results were:
Wakefield: 5–0 and 4–0
Huddersfield: 5–9 and 4–0
Lindum: 1–0 and 1–0
The final game against Lindum was a real thriller, with the winning goal coming in the last 10 seconds!
A special mention must go to Annie, who joined the team as the new goalkeeper and played with the girls for the very first time. She slotted into the team perfectly and remarkably didn't concede a single goal all day. She was well protected by some excellent defending from Zara C, Rose, Elsie and Matilda T, but the defensive effort really came from the whole team, with everyone working hard from the forwards all the way back.
The girls' great team play and willingness to pass and support each other also resulted in six different goal scorers:
Alexa – 6 goals
Elsie – 4 goals
Izzy – 4 goals
Matilda H – 3 goals
Zara M – 2 goals
Rose – 1 goal
More importantly than the results, the girls played as a team. They worked for each other, celebrated each other's goals and showed fantastic unselfishness throughout the tournament.
A brilliant first tournament together — well done to every single one of you! What a way to start!

Doncaster U12G @ Adel

We started with a 1-0 win against Adel with a great goal from Hannah and could have been more.
We then lost 0-1 in an open game with Northallerton which could have gone either way. We had chances, made some great saves and conceded with a heart wrenching 13 seconds left on the clock.
We lost 0-4 to a strong Harrogate side, but had chances to score ourselves. Proud of the girls who never let their heads go down and kept going.
In the second round of fixtures we started with a 0-0 draw and a 1-1 draw with a great goal from Beth on her DHC debut and only the post preventing another win.
We finished with a much closer game against Harrogate only losing 0-2 and we had enough chances just couldn't convert.
For virtually all the girls this was either their first U12 game, their first DHC game, or both!! They supported each other and got better as the day progressed and they should all be proud of their days work.
Extra shout out for Ida in goal, who is only 9 and playing up to help out the U12. She made some amazing saves and kept us in contention.

Beeston v Doncaster U14G

The U14 girls put in a fantastic team performance today in Tier 1 against Beeston, securing an impressive 7–0 victory and dominating play from the start. There was some excellent hockey on display, with quick passing, great movement and brilliant teamwork throughout.
At half-time, the girls were 2–0 up, with Ava getting the scoring underway. The second goal came from a lovely strike from Louisa across the D, followed by a superb finish from Grace.
The girls had plenty of opportunities to practise their short corners, with Quinn converting one brilliantly and Bella striking the ball cleanly and straight on target.
Defensively, the girls were extremely strong. Our short corners were calm and well organised, with everyone working together, while Edie made an excellent clearance when needed.
A special mention to Olivia, playing her first game for DHC, who marked the occasion by scoring a fabulous goal!
There were so many positives from the teamwork today. A great pass from Georgie to Evie, then on to Sophie, saw Sophie drive the ball down the right-hand side and across to Bella, creating another excellent goal-scoring opportunity. Bella then finished the game in style with a cracking finish from a short corner.
Every player contributed brilliantly, and the girls should be incredibly proud of their performance. What a fantastic start to the season! Well done, girls — you all played so well!
