Anna Clish30 Sep 2025 - 11:10

Read how our younger players go on this weekend.

This weekend saw both development teams in action and a return to competitive hockey for our juniors.

Saturday 27th September

Doncaster D2 v Rotherham D2
2 : 3
Sadly 2-0 up to then lose 3-2.
Good effort from The team but we simply ran out of steam in the 2nd half.
Many great chances created but we couldn’t put the ball in the net enough times.
Goals from Felix and Grace R.
Bar votes:
Player of the match - tie between George and Felix.
Most improved - Willian Dent.
Goon of the game, Bellerby Senior.

Chapeltown v Doncaster D1
1: 0
Great performance from the team today with four players making their debuts. Very even game throughout with the one goal coming near the end with a lucky deflection into the D for Chapeltown player to score . Came close at the end to an equaliser but couldn’t get past the giant Chapeltown Gk . Well done all

U16 B
Hull v Doncaster U16B
0 : 2
The U16s had their first game of the season with an away trip to Hull. After a good few weeks of training, the boys were ready to compete in matches. The whistle blew, and the U16s had kickstarted their season.
The game started a bit scrappy for both teams, with neither side managing to get a hold of the ball and create. However, as the first half progressed, Doncaster grew more confident and started creating chances. One example of this was when Henderson and Wilson create a string of nice passing until a slap in the D, which was received by Hull, but rebounded to Deakin, who placed the ball into the bottom corner.
1–0 Doncaster – a great start to the season.
Doncaster continued to create chances, utilise space in the middle, and drive towards goal. This led to another opportunity when Wilson picked the ball up just outside the 23. He laid the ball off to Wade, who played it inside the D to Deakin, back to Wilson, who poked it into the goal.
2–0 Doncaster before half-time.
The half-time whistle blew, and the Donny players had their well-deserved break.
In the second half, Doncaster continued to play positive hockey, driving forward and creating space through the forwards and wide players – Felix, George, and Wade. However, as the clock wound down, Hull attacked well, trying to get back into the game. Despite this, brilliant defensive performances from Patrick, Jones, Ryland, and Henderson – along with some key saves from Seaton – kept the ball out of the goal and secured a clean sheet.
Final Score: 2–0 Doncaster.
A brilliant game and a great start to the season as we move on to Ben Rhydding at home.
Also, a huge thanks to Sam Hooper for coming out to Hull to support the lads on the sidelines, despite his broken finger.

U16G
Doncaster U16G T2 v Harrogate
5 : 0

U14G
Doncaster U14G T2 V Driffield
4 : 0
U14 girls had there first T2 game v Driffield they dominated from the start keeping the opposition in their own half but it took a few attempts and short corners until Bella H found the net and then added a second before half time . Second half saw more great passing hockey from the girls leading to a goal for Lauren H and then Louisa R after a few attempts pulled off the worldie reverse stick into the top corner . Thanks to Bronwyn for doing the bench and coaching speech at half time .

U14B
Doncaster U14B v Chesterfield
4 : 1

U12G
Both the under 12s A team and B team had their first tournament of the season.
The A team travelled to a Sunny Wakefield and started the seasons campaign very positively with 2 wins and 2 draws. A very strong team performance was given, with high hopes for the rest of the season.
The B team travelled to Chesterfield. The team consisted of new players and some more experienced girls. 6 games were played, resulting in 5 draws and 1 loss. Again, the girls played extremely well as a team. Overall, both teams did themselves proud and worked so hard. Well done girls!
