The Doncaster home match against Sheffield was a great game. A 2-1 win to the mighty DHC with goals from E Laidlaw and A Bellerby.
It looked tight and 1-1, especially with some dodgy defending by G Henshaw, L Clara cleared up for him though and made some great saves!
For me the most improved was B Salanyk, Tily and Sophie also making great strides!
This development section at the club is really doing great things, it’s fantastic to see!

Well done to all the juniors who played at Chesterfield today, you were all amazing.
That was a game that could so easily have got away from us when the goals we deserved didn’t come in the first 3 quarters! But you all stuck to the task brilliantly and the winning goal came from a well worked short corner - converted perfectly by Jojo.
1-0 to DHC!!!

Doncaster U12G (1) YYHL @ Harrogate

The under 12 girls A team travelled to a very chilly Harrogate on Sunday morning, hoping to repeat their success from the previous tournament. With a bare 7 players, the girls knew they would have to work hard to achieve some good results. They did not disappoint! Playing 4 games against teams Northallerton, York, Lindum and Thirsk, the girls demonstrated excellent teamwork, energy and enthusiasm resulting in some fantastic results. The first 3 games resulted in very convincing victories for us with plenty of goals been scored. We knew after the 3rd game, with results from other games and our own unbeaten run, that we had done enough to get promoted to the next league level. Our 4th game against Lindum (our bogie team) resulted in a 1-0 loss after their one and only shot went in. This however didn't upset the mood of the day as the overall girls performance was outstanding! Goals came from Matilda, Isabel and Alexa. Thanks to Jonathan's great coaching and Ollie for umpiring.

Doncaster U12G (2) YYHL @ Chesterfield

Doncaster 2 began with a 1-0 win against Barnsley 1. The start was tentative, with a few missed opportunities but a goal from Ffion on her debut put Doncaster 2 ahead and some good defending meant the girls held their lead.
The team started to hit their stride in the second game against Rotherham 2, which Doncaster 2 won 2-0. Some tight marking ensured Rotherham could not respond and goals from Sophie and Harriet sealed the win.
Next up were their squad mates, Doncaster 3. Whilst Doncaster 2 won with a big scoreline (5-0) the game was far more competitive than the numbers suggest. Great teamwork from the players upfront resulted in goals for Beth, Ffion and Kimberley and defence remained solid, denying Doncaster 3 a goal.
The final match was against Sheffield 3 and Doncaster won this a convincing 7-0. As in the previous matches, the team were working well together, setting up and scoring goals and defending well.
Thank you again to Ida in goal, who is playing up to help out the U12 and doing some sterling goalkeeping.
15 goals scored. 0 conceded. A high press throughout was the key to so many chances. A fantastic Sunday's work girls.

Doncaster U12G (3) - YYHL @ Sheffield

The girls did themselves proud on Sunday in Sheffield finishing third in the league. With two U10s helping us out and others making their U12 debut they won two games and lost two games.
They had a tough start with a defeat against good Barnsley side (who Doncaster2 also had a tight game against) but kept their heads up
They rallied, listened to feedback and won their next game against Sheffield 2-0 in a good end to end game.
Then came the Doncaster derby with Doncaster2 playing Doncaster3. The game was tight for the first half with some heroic defending but once Don2 scored one, they took control of the game.
Don3 finished with a convincing 4-0 win over Rotherham with some great team play.
A fantastic effort all round. Great hockey, great teamwork and great resilience.

Doncaster U12B - YYHL

Another great tournament in div 1 today.
After a slow start to the first game where we didn’t quite play as a team/execute the basics as we can do, the boys did exactly what was asked of them, moved forward positively, did a high press and, started moving the ball between them whilst trying to slap/open stick hit on goal which resulted in 3 wins.
On goal difference we came first again.

Sheffield v Doncaster U14G

What a fantastic performance from the girls today!
Doncaster started strongly, pressing high and putting Sheffield under pressure from the outset. The girls showed great attacking intent, driving forward from midfield and creating plenty of opportunities in front of goal.
The goals came from Phoebe, Ellena (2), Olivia, Ava D (2), Grace and Eydie, with some excellent teamwork and link-up play throughout.
Defensively, the girls worked hard together. The second half saw more positive attacking play, with Ava making a fantastic run up the pitch and Olivia setting up Eydie for another goal-scoring opportunity.
A brilliant team performance, with strong pressing, great passing and goals shared across the team. Well done, girls!
