Back in 2018 3 families brought their children to DHC from nearby Chapeltown, all three had U14 & U16G & an U16B. All of the children played for DHC juniors & seniors before gradually leaving for Uni & work etc. All except one – Ian Christlo.

Ian attended the AGM that first season (as usually seems the case) we needed someone to take on the role as Junior Co-ordinator – Ian was approached & said he would give it a go & despite several attempts to move on from the role (family & work commitments) he has continued to work tirelessly as both a coach & co-ordinator throughout these years, also playing for the senior sides (either in or out of goal). He has been instrumental in organising the Development increasing it from 1 team to 2 helping the transition of juniors into senior hockey.

As the role has evolved into the Junior Admin role & Will coming into the Director, Ian has liaised/organised with numerous clubs/areas & Bev the fixtures, pitch bookings along with keeping Will on track.

Doncaster Hockey Club therefore name Ian Christlo as the 2025/26 season recipiant of the Huw Petty Award for services to the Club.
