Doncaster Hockey Club (DHC) is proud to announce a groundbreaking new partnership with the University Campus Doncaster High Performance Centre (HPC). This collaboration will give DHC players access to elite-level sports science support, cutting-edge performance testing, and advanced sports therapy services — resources usually reserved for professional athletes.
As part of the agreement, the HPC will also become the official sponsor of Doncaster Hockey Club’s Men’s First Team, further strengthening its commitment to supporting the development of local talent at the highest level.
By bringing together one of the region’s most successful community sports clubs with Doncaster’s state-of-the-art High Performance Centre, the partnership ensures that DHC athletes benefit from the same world-class facilities and expertise that support elite teams and international performers.
The HPC is equipped with the latest technology, including COSMED metabolic carts for VO₂ max and lactate testing, VALD performance systems for strength and power profiling, and Game Ready cryotherapy for recovery — all designed to maximise performance and reduce the risk of injury.
What the partnership offers DHC players
As part of this agreement, Doncaster Hockey Club Performance Squad players will benefit from:
Performance Testing – VO₂ max, lactate, and strength profiling to benchmark and enhance performance.
Sports Therapy & Recovery – Injury screening, sports massage, and cryotherapy to support player wellbeing.
Applied Sports Science Support – Data-driven insights to optimise training programmes and match performance.
Online Education – Sessions on nutrition, sleep, and the menstrual cycle, accessible to all club players and members.
A shared commitment to raising standards
Josh Wroot, Head of the High Performance Centre, said:
“This partnership is about providing Doncaster Hockey Club with the same level of scientific support you’d expect at the very top of sport. Our facilities and expertise will allow players to test, track, and improve their performance while ensuring they stay healthy and resilient across the season.”
DHC Chairman Spencer Fearn added:
“We are thrilled to be working with the HPC. This partnership gives our players access to resources that will make a huge difference in their development and recovery, and it underlines our commitment to raising standards within the club. For the first season, there will be a focus on the performance squads, with every intention to extend this offering to all players in the future. We are also delighted to have the HPC as our Men’s First Team sponsor — it’s a fantastic fit for both organisations.”
The partnership also highlights both organisations’ shared ambition to grow sport across Doncaster. The HPC already supports elite and community clubs including Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Knights, and Doncaster Dons, while Doncaster Hockey Club continues to expand its thriving men’s, women’s, and junior programmes.
