England hockey veteran Matt Goodwin has celebrated a remarkable third successive IMC Over-55s Masters Hockey World Cup title after captaining England B to victory in Brasschaat, Belgium.

Goodwin, listed by World Masters Hockey as an England captain in the Over-55s programme, helped lead the side through the International Masters Cup competition, which formed part of the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup staged from 6 to 16 August in Brasschaat.

The tournament brought together national and IMC teams across several masters age groups, with matches played at KHC Dragons in Brasschaat and HC Olympia in Antwerp. England B topped the M55 IMC standings after four wins from four pool matches, scoring 17 goals and conceding five.

In the final, England B beat Southern Cross 4-2 to seal the gold medal and cap another outstanding campaign for England Masters. England Hockey reported that its Masters squads enjoyed a highly successful 2026 World Cup campaign, while the IMC competition delivered a particularly strong return for England teams.

For Goodwin, the latest success underlines both personal consistency and the depth of England’s masters hockey programme. Winning three successive world titles is a notable achievement at any level, and his role as captain adds further distinction to a memorable international season.
