Will brings nearly two decades of elite-level experience to the role, both as a player and coach. A former England international at U16, U18, and U21 level, Will also played for three years in the Premier Division and has coached at National League level for over five years.
A Level 2 qualified coach currently completing England Hockey’s prestigious Advanced Coach Programme (ACP), Will has previously coached in Division One North with Sheffield and has led the Yorkshire Senior Men’s side at the County Championships for the past seven seasons. In 2019, he founded The Wolf Academy, a high-performance coaching initiative that has developed countless young players and coaches across the region.
Will continue in his role as Director of Juniors at Doncaster HC, where he has played a key part in growing one of the most vibrant junior sections in the North. He also served as Head of Hockey at Worksop College, underlining his commitment to both player development and performance success.
Speaking on his appointment, Will said:
"It’s a real privilege to take on the role of Head Coach for the Women’s 1st XI. The team has a proud history and huge potential, and I’m looking forward to working closely with the players and staff to help the squad grow and compete at the highest possible level. The goal is clear, a return to National League hockey in the future and I’m excited to support the club on that journey."
Club Chair Spencer Fearn added:
"It was clear from speaking to colleagues within Doncaster Hockey Club that Will is extremely highly regarded. He has a clear passion for coaching with a proven track record at senior and junior levels and a deep knowledge of the game. Will’s leadership will be vital as we look to support the continued growth of our women's section. My thanks go to Alan Stoves who played a key role in this appointment."
