Ben Rhydding 1 v DHC M1
2 -1
The 1st team arrived at Ben Rhydding looking to bounce back from last week's result against Leeds. The lads made a promising start and consistently applied pressure to the Ben Rhydding D, but couldn't find the final finish on a few occasions. The second quarter provided further action, with Rhydding taking the lead. A quick response was provided by Matt Priday, his first national league goal, to level the score going into half time. The third and fourth quarter were more frantic for both teams, with the Rhydding keeping providing a lifeline with an excellent double save from Stoves. A further tip over the bar from a Gibson rebound kept them in the game, and with minutes to go, Rhydding found the back of the net from a corner. The whistle sounded at 2-1 Rhydding.
The 1st team play again on Friday night against Sheffield at 8pm, looking to make amends for the previous two results. With a strong, noisy crowd on the sideline it'll be a great evening for the Club.
Stokesley vs DHC Men's 2s
4 - 0
The 2s travelled north (again) for a midday start against newly promoted Stokesley. The game started with the 2s winning an early corner but did not capitalise on it. Shortly followed was an opening goal for the home side via a penalty corner driven into the bottom corner. A second, very questionable, penalty corner was awarded and Stokesley doubled their lead.
HT: 2-0
The lads had not given up and were driven to get back into the game. Another early penalty corner for the 2s saw the Stokesley defender pick one off the line keeping their 2 goal cushion. It seemed it was not the 2s day as another corner was won and the keeper pulled off a fantastic save. Stokesley soon put away a third corner and a fourth not long after.
FT: 4-0
Despite the loss, other results in the league keep Donny in a solid position in the charge for promotion as they finally have a home game next week against Leeds Adel.
