Read a round up of the weekends results.

The ladies first team were beaten by Holcombe, who will be playing in the premier league next year, as they progressed to the final.
The men’s fourth team ended their season on a high as they beat, champions, Barnsley.
At the JSM Arena, the ladies fourth team won by four goals meaning they finish the season in ninth place.

Results:
L1 0-4 Holcombe (Cup)
M4 2-1 Barnsley
L4 4-0 Sheffield University Bankers

M4: With Lindum 4 winning their final game before Easter and the 4th XI losing at Chesterfield, it meant that the 4s could not finish runners up in the league.
They travelled to Barnsley (who had already been crowned champions), trying to do what no other side had managed this season and beat Barnsley at their own ground.
In the 9 games they had hosted this season, Barnsley had scored 50 and conceded only 7 times.
It was the league's top scorers versus the tightest defence in the league, so it was going to be a hard fought game.
The 4s wanted to finish strong and round the season off with a win.
Doncaster got the match underway and immediately set about trying to breach the Barnsley defence.
Some initial good forays forward were thwarted by the young stand-in keeper for Barnsley.
After the first ten minutes, Barnsley appeared to kick into life, and the match was a fast-paced end-to-end affair.
With 25 minutes gone, Penk managed to break the deadlock, putting the visitors ahead (again, a subdue celebration from Penk, made up for by the enthusiastic celebration by Dad, Gary).
Frustrations were starting to build in the home side, who were reduced to 10 men when 1 defender had a verbal exchange with an Umpire.
Shirtly after the returned to a full compliment, another was shown a green for expressing his frustrations, upgraded to a yellow as he continued his protestations as he left the field.
Despite the numeric handicap Barnsley tried to hit back immediately, but some good defence from Doncaster and some key saves from Grocock meant that Doncaster went tintoretto the break with their noses in front.
Half-time 0-1
The second half started, and Barnsley laid seige on the Doncaster goal. Some determined dogged defending, and more saves from Grocock kept Doncaster in front.
Doncaster were then reduced to 10 men themselves as Ben Stoves was deemed to have maliciously fouled the Barnsley winger.
After a number of short corners, Barnsley found an equaliser. Roars of relief from their players and supporters could probably be heard for miles around.
Whilst Doncaster tried to create openings they couldnt really find a way passed the home keeper who came out well to snuff out 1-on-1s with both Penk and Glasby.
Tom Brown tried to fire an attempt goalbound after some good play but managed to loop it rather than undercut it towards goal.
Barnsley were winning a succession of short corners each celebrated like a goal itself but Doncaster held firm.
With literally a minute left on the clock, Doncaster found themselves in the D, managed to play the ball around the keeper, Tom Brown shot towards the goal only to see a Barnsley defender 2-foot tackle and kick the ball off the line.
Flick awarded.
Several of the Doncaster players stepped back and away from the situation leaving Ben Stoves with the ball in his hand.
Stoves went low and hard with flick, thud into the backboard, goal!!!
The ground went into silence.
Barnsley tried to rush to salvage something from the game but time ran out.
Final Score 1-2

The umpires and many of the Barnsley players remarked how good a game it was, and I can testify that it was one of the most enjoyable 4th XI games of the season (possibly a biased view given the result).
A great way to end the season!

L4: The ladies 4s had their final game of season on 6/4/24 against Sheffield University Bankers 4s.
We started well with strong attacking play down the right by Holly and Liv, with Bella, Priya and Jane linking in and regaining possession, sending us on the attack again and again. The first goal came after a pass from Sue, with a save from their goalkeeper and a follow-up shot from Mandy on twenty minutes. 1-0 at half time.
The second half we started well again, pressing the ball high, with our defenders Amelia, Sophie, Kerry, Cath and Heather competently dealing with the SUB4s attacks.
Our second goal came in the 38th minute by Mandy.
The third goal came from an attack down the left, with Issy and Sue linking well to get the ball into the D and a top of the D strike by Liv.
Holly & Emilia continued with their attacking runs down the right, with one such attack by Holly, her cross to the penalty spot gave us our fourth goal, and Mandy’s third.
An outstanding save by Heather in the last 2 minutes gave us our well deserved win and clean sheet.
