LADIES 1st TEAM

Saturday saw Doncaster Ladies' 1sts make the short journey to local rivals Sheffield Hallam. Both teams were looking to kick-start their season after mixed results in previous games. The game started end to end but it was Sheffield who broke the deadlock with a controversial goal on 6 minutes where the ball was played into the Doncaster circle, appeared to hit a Sheffield foot and fell kindly to Kate Beesley who lifted the ball into the net. After several Doncaster chances were saved by Sheffield's in-form goalkeeper, Doncaster drew level on 31 minutes. A short corner saved by the keeper fell to Charlotte Dodds who, after good work on the baseline, passed the ball across goal to find Camryn Dias on the back post who tapped in from close range. 1-1 half time.

Doncaster were a different team in the second half. The Sheffield keeper could only keep them at bay until the 51st minute, when a shot from Bexx Woods took a deflection from a Sheffield stick past the keeper. 2 minutes later Dodds intercepted a poor Sheffield defensive pass and played in Woods whose shot was stopped by the keeper with players from both sides in the area, it was Doncaster's Dias who jabbed it under the keeper into the net to make it 3-1. Doncaster controlled the game for the last 15 minutes but were unable to extend their lead.

Doncaster host the University of Durham this Saturday at 12 noon.

MEN'S 1st TEAM

Doncaster welcomed Leeds to Town Fields on Sunday for their first home game of the season. The first half was fairly evenly pitted, with chances for both teams but neither could find the back of the net. Doncaster took the lead early in the second half through a Matt Gibson short corner. Through some poor Doncaster passing, Leeds were able to equalise and then go 1-2 up within 10 minutes of Doncaster scoring. Leeds were more clinical in their circle, scoring again leaving the final score 1-3. Good performances from junior players Haris Davenport, Matt White and Angus Graham and Captain Josh Oades. Next Saturday Doncaster welcome Belper to Town Fields hoping to register their first points of the season.

Cheers,

Jo
