LADIES' 1st XI

Doncaster hosted top of the table Sutton Coldfield at Town Fields on Saturday. Both teams started well but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock on nine minutes with a lovely straight strike from a short corner. Doncaster grew into the game but were kept at bay by some good defending and goalkeeping.

From the start of the third quarter Doncaster took the game to Sutton and dominated possession creating several good chances but the Sutton defence stood firm. The final quarter saw Sutton get back into the game with counter attacks as Doncaster pushed for an equaliser. Five minutes from time Sutton Coldfield were awarded a short corner which somehow found the goal off the keeper's pads. The win was complete on 68 minutes when a Doncaster attack broke down and left them short of players in defence, the two Sutton attackers worked well together one drawing the keeper out and slipping the ball to her team mate to slot home. Final score Doncaster 0-3 Sutton Coalfield and for the second game a score line that doesn’t reflect the true picture of the game.

Doncaster travel to Beeston to play their 2nd XI on Saturday.

MEN'S 1st XI

Doncaster men's 1st XI travelled to Belper on Sunday. Belper scored 2 in the first half through open play and short corner goals. Doncaster came out after halftime to grab the first goal through James Gunthorp, then had a chance to make it 2-2 but Andy Appleton failed to convert the penalty stroke. Belper then went onto score 2 more goals before Doncaster pulled two goals back through Travis Creswell and Tim Shelley. Belper killed the game off with a final goal after Doncaster had 2 players sin-binned.

This week Doncaster welcomed Timperley to Town Fields for a 2pm push back.
