LADIES 1st TEAM

Doncaster welcomed bottom of the table Neston & South Wirral on Saturday. It took just 4 minutes for the home team to score - a pass across the area by Bexx Woods bounced off the keeper's pads and fell invitingly for Amelia Milton who slapped the ball into the goal. Doncaster doubled their lead on 20 minutes when a flowing move down the left side of the pitch and an excellent cross into the area found Sarah Thorpe on hand at the back post to tap the ball home. Neston were still in the game but their attacks rarely tested the Doncaster keeper. Doncaster made it 3-0 on 27 minutes when some excellent skill and close control by Thorpe ended with a pass to Helen Karditsas who after seeing her initial shot saved picked up the rebound, twisted and turned the defender and fired a reverse stick shot past the keeper. Doncaster made it 4-0 just before half time through an unmarked Jay Noddle who deflected the ball into the goal off a well rehearsed short corner routine.

Neston came out a different team in the second half and managed what would be a consolation goal on 38 minutes with an well excecuted short corner. Doncaster still pushed for more goals and Neston looked dangerous on the counter attack bringing a couple of good saves from the Doncaster keeper. The win was sealed on 67 minutes when again a short corner routine straight off the training pitch was finished by Charlotte Dodds when a superb deflection in front of the keeper found the bottom corner. With results going Doncaster’s way they found themselves in 3rd place in the league, 6 points clear of Alderney Edge .

The Ladies host Liverpool Sefton this Saturday - 12pm push back at Town Fields.

MEN'S 1st TEAM

Doncaster played local rivals Sheffield on Saturday. In a tight game, Doncaster took the lead through a great deflected goal by Jonathan Redfearn but Doncaster switched off and Sheffield quickly replied. In a hectic last 15 minutes, Sheffield took their chance and with it all three points with a 2-1 win.

Doncaster travelled to Alderley Edge on Sunday. After a scrappy first half, Doncaster were lucky not to be behind. In the second half, Doncaster created more of the chances and finally broke the deadlock through skipper Josh Oades. Matt Gibson sealed the 3 points with a goal from a short corner.

This Saturday Doncaster men host Durham University at 2pm at Town Fields.
