Win, Win, Win!!!

Saturday 10th October at Doncaster Hockey Club saw the Ladies 1’s continue their excellent start to the season and maintain their 100% win record.

A much more structured Sheffield Hallam team to the side comprehensively beaten a fortnight ago by Doncaster in the cup made for a much more interesting and, at times, nervy match for our die hard army of fans.

Tireless work from the forward line meant Hallam had little respite in the defensive areas, whilst great possession for prolonged periods of the game provided some fantastic opportunities on goal for Doncaster.

The threat was clear throughout, however, with Hallam looking dangerous on the break – a great defensive and midfield combination repelling the Hallam advances resolutely.

Goals from Lauren Firth, Ellie O’Neill and Bexx Woods sealed the game, and although Sheffield at one point clawed their way back in to the game at 2-1, Doncaster showed their mettle and continued to play their flowing passing game to make it 3-1 and put the game beyond doubt.

Doncaster Ladies 1’s remain top of the league and travel to Chester next weekend hoping to maintain their excellent form against yet another tough outfit.
