Loughborough Leave it late to take the spoils!

Doncaster hosted Loughborough in a game they wanted to get some points to close the gap on the teams above.

Doncaster started the stronger of the two teams taking the lead inside the first two minutes when Kirstie Grace slotted home. Doncaster continued to ply pressure on the Loughborough goal only to be deined by some strong defending by the visitors. Half way through the first half Loughborough started to get a grasp of the game and started to put some pressure on the Doncaster goal. With the ball going from end to end and both sides creating chances it was Loughborough who scored the next goal levelling proceedings in the 32nd minute from a well worked short corner.

With the scores level at half time and both sides looking threatening it was now up to the coaches to get the most out of their sides.

The second half started as the first ended with both sides piling pressure inside the circle and both sides being denied by some excellent defending and not taking full advantage of some opportunities that fell to them.

Loughborough again were the next team to score taking the lead in the 45th minute following some nice play. This didn't deter Doncaster who continued to play some lovely hockey. They were themselves rewarded for their efforts when Lauren Firth slotted home following a well worked short corner in the 69th minute. This looked as though Doncaster had got the point they deserved from the fixture. Sadly this wasn't the case as Loughborough scored with the last touch of the game to win 3-2.

Next time Doncaster visit Liverpool Sefton hoping to avenge their opening day defeat.
