4XI put in 7 on the smurf turf!

This week the Men's 4XI travelled to Sheffield Hallam hoping to continue on their great start to the season against Wakefield.

From the first whistle Doncaster took control of the game attacking strongly and defending hard before they got on the score sheet. The first goal came in the 11th minute with James Meek working his magic to get into the Hallam circle before unleashing a screaming effort toward to goal being turned in with style and accuracy by Phil Jessop on the back post.

Doncaster only took 40 seconds to double their lead with Iain McBride getting the ball back quickly from the Hallam restart before moving it on quickly. Doncaster attacked with pace leaving players in their wake before Anthony Fearn steered the ball past the keeper.

Sheffield didn't lay down and put some pressure on the Doncaster defence only to be denied by Paul Hatton and his defence on a few occasions, but Doncaster remained on control. With some fine attacking play Callum Young (yes Callum Young) rounded two Hallam defenders before getting a shot off only to be denied by the foot of a defender earning his side a well earned short corner. From the corner the ball found itself at the stick of young Brad Fearn who won another for his team but the corner was well broken down by Hallam.

Four minutes later Doncaster extended their lead when Brad Reeve found himself in what seemed acres of space in the circle and unleashed a screaming shot into the bottom corner. With the scoreline at 3-0 Doncaster looked to be cruising into the break but added a fourth with 70 seconds left on the clock when Anthony Fearn added to his tally with a well worked goal. This was looking likely to be the half time score but Hallam attacked and caught the Doncaster defence asleep and slotted in to provide them with some hop going into the break.

Following the half time chats Hallam started with the ball only to lose possession quickly after a lovely tackle from the in form James Meek. Following his goal after 32 seconds last week from the restart he looked likely to beat this time but was fouled outside the 25. James dusted himself off took the hit himself, skilfully entered the Hallam 'D' and fired home. This time he was slower taking him 40 seconds this week.

The game continued to go Doncaster's way defending hard with the inspirational Adam Scott leading the lines and even allowing Jack and Housh to cause trouble in the other half. This even led to Richard Housham seemingly attempting to shoot!!

With six minutes left Anthony Fearn looked likely to complete his hat-trick only to unselfishly slip the ball to Brad Fearn to add another to the tally. With the Doncaster side looking to attack until the final whistle just as they had done the previous week against Wakefield the ball once again found its way to Anthony Fearn in the 'D' who fired a shot goal bound only to be turned in at the back post once again by the ever impressive Phil Jessop to complete the scoring giving Doncaster a well earned 7-1 victory.

The man of the match this week went to James Meek for another impressive display in the middle of the pitch and the DOD award went to Richard Housham.

Next week see's Doncaster host Sheffield University Bankers at Armthorpe School where they hope to continue their winning run and promotion push.
